Bonehead Enduro 4-20-2007

A nice scavenger hunt starting in North Bend and proceeding along the North Fork of the Snoqualmie River. It's a benefit

for the  Pacific Northwest Museum of Motorcycling, too.

What a treat to see a big turnout and lots of great old bikes.

Here is where the first bone was to be found. Right under the bridge. Other bones involved a short trail ride off the gravel road or a short hike down to the river's edge. Norm Cecil took the overall grand prize for the combo of oldest bike and oldert rider. (Norm is 75 years young!)

.Each participant is given a rider number and a map with the location of the first "bone". A bone is just a small colored card, about the size of a business card, with the rider number on the front and the instructions for finding the next "bone" on the back. The idea is to collect all the "bones" with your rider number, proving that you have been to all burial spots. Then ride back to the start for a big lunch and awards ceremony.

A great spring day in the Cascades. Just right for a little ridin' and a little bone huntin'.    Page 1     Page 2     Page 3     Page 4
In case you are thinking about giving this ride a try next year, I highly recommend it. It's not a race; it only takes 3 or 4 hours to complete.....the faster riders will be way out front with their buddies. Most folks just just cruise along, enjoying the ride and the mountains with old friends and some new ones, too. The following are a few pdf files to give an idea what the 'bones" look like and how the Bonehead Enduro is conducted.
